No battery to charge, no engine to start
A manual knapsack sprayer is still the most widely used sprayer on small and medium farms, and there is a plain reason for it: the day you need to spray is the day everything else has decided not to work. Batteries go flat. Two-stroke engines refuse to start after sitting since last season. This one has a lever and a piston pump [VERIFY pump type]. You work the lever with one hand while you direct the lance with the other, and it sprays. That is the entire operating procedure.
The [CAPACITY] tank [VERIFY nominal vs usable fill] is the size that suits a real working day: big enough that you are not walking back to the mixing point every twenty minutes, still manageable on a person's back. At a typical knapsack application rate of 200–300 L per hectare, one fill covers roughly 700–1,000 square metres before you go back for more - treat that as a planning figure, not a promise, because your nozzle and your walking speed decide it.
Being honest about the trade-off: you do have to keep pumping. Holding pressure means working the lever more or less continuously. In exchange you get a sprayer that costs a fraction of a powered one, has no electrical parts to fail in the wet, and can be repaired at the edge of the field with a seal kit and a spanner. For most farms that trade is worth making.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much area does one 20L tank cover?
Roughly 700–1,000 m² at typical knapsack rates of 200–300 L per hectare. Your nozzle, pressure and walking speed move that number quite a lot, so calibrate once: spray a measured 100 m² at your normal pace and see what the tank level actually drops.
Can it be used with herbicides as well as pesticides?
Yes, provided the seals suit the formulation - [SEALS] [VERIFY]. Always rinse thoroughly between different products, and ideally keep one sprayer for herbicides and another for everything else. Cross-contamination from a residue of herbicide in the tank is a common and expensive way to lose a crop.
Do I have to pump constantly while spraying?
Yes, on a manual unit you work the lever to hold pressure. That is the trade for having no battery and no engine. Many operators find a steady rhythm and it stops being noticeable after the first tank.
What pressure does it reach, and is it safe to over-pump?
[PRESSURE] [VERIFY]. Do not pump past the point where the lever goes firm, and check that the relief valve is working before each season. Over-pressurising a knapsack tank damages seams and lids, and a burst under pressure is dangerous.
Which nozzles come with it?
[NOZZLES] [VERIFY]. An adjustable cone nozzle covers most work. Fan nozzles suit herbicide bands, and multi-nozzle booms suit broadcast spraying - ask us what fits this lance.
What spare parts should I order with the first shipment?
Seal and O-ring kits first, then a spare nozzle set and, if the lance is plastic, one spare lance. [VERIFY what is stocked separately.] These are the parts that fail, and they cost very little compared with a sprayer sitting idle.
Can it be used for wettable powders?
Yes with care. Make a smooth paste first, add water in stages, and keep the tank strainer in place - powder that is not fully dispersed settles and blocks the nozzle. Agitate the tank periodically while spraying. Suspension concentrates behave better than powders in knapsack sprayers.
What is the minimum order quantity?
[MOQ] [VERIFY, plus units per carton]. Tell us your market and annual volume and we will quote the sprayers and a spares kit together.
